Mary makes Mary a dress

Pretty in pinks!

Success

Adam barely made it to get a citizenship award for first grade- it was the last assembly of the year. He hasn't had a white note since November. Hooray for Adam.

3rd grade world potluck

In the Grandview High school cafeteria, Kenny wanted to be dragged down the ramp.
"Guess what we brought for dinner?" Mary asks so nicely.

It was a day of 3rd grade family genealogy reports and then all the families of the third graders reported to the high school with an ethnic dish to represent their family origin for a buffet. I made Buffalo meatballs to represent our Native American heritage through Pocahontas. Mary kept telling people we brought "Buffalo Balls." Yum.

It rained mud last night

It was hard to see out of the side windows in my van when I took the little kids to school this morning because of all the mud. Mike went out to get in his car to go to work and decided both cars needed to be hosed off.
The news said it probably was dirt from all the wind yesterday, it definitely wasn't ash from that volcano- I lived 50 miles away from Mt. St. Helens when she blew, I know what ash looks like.

What could it bee?

If you don't like what he has put in your water- he'll take it by the sink and fish it out.

Who moves the mouse pad?

I didn't notice it at first, but my left-handed Patrick moves the mouse to the left side so he can use the mouse. Kelly, Megan and I just use the mouse with our right hand so our left hand is free to write or do other things.

Extra sweet prayers

In Primary today, I taught a lesson about dares. Specifically not taking a dare unless it's like I dare you to choose the right. The manual says to end the lesson with an incident where you may have taken a dare and what the results were. When I was 11 I was dared to steal a pack of gum and I did and I got in a whole bunch of trouble and stolen gum tastes horrible. So I tell this story and the kids (all 4 year-olds) look at me like I have two heads. At the end of the class, the little girl who gave the prayer asked Heavenly Father sincerely to help Sister Malm from stealing gum.

Mysterious buzzing sound

Yesterday I sat down after doing laundry, dishes, lunches and there was this buzzing sound coming from the kitchen nook. I walked around the nook, putting my ear up to the printer and computers and the walls- listening for this buzzing sound. I unplugged everything in that vicinity, turned off the TV and still there was this annoying buzzing sound. I started to wonder if it was my ears, so I asked Mary Jane to come up from the family room and tell me if there is a buzzing noise and she said it was the fridge. When Mike came down, and looked at me like what is that buzzing noise? I had him look. He went outside and turned off all the power to the house from the panel and the buzzing noise still played. Finally I noticed on the floor Kelly's sudoku toy. It was on and yeah, buzzing! In the picture above, the offending game is below Kenny, before it was thrown in the trash after I turned the stupid thing off.

If you bake them, they will come

Megan made some whole wheat chocolate chip cookies. They were yummy.

Not on purpose

Kelly was standing in living room talking to Mike and I when Mary walked by. Kelly then told Mary not to lick her on the arm. Mary said, "Sorry." Like there is such a thing as an Accidental licking!

Love

He's been stuffing dvd's into the tv again.

It's hard to get mad at him.

He looks so innocent

Mike was out planting spinach and potatoes in the garden, when Kenny locked the sliding door. I received a call while I was shopping at Sam's Club, informing me that the front door was double bolted and the sliding door lock is easy to lock but really hard to unlock. As I was rushing home, Mike called and said that he coaxed the boy to unlock the front door- after Kenny laughed at the locked out Dad for ten minutes. Oh Kenny!

Spilled Milk

Meg dropped the jug and it exploded as she carried it into the house.
The side split.
Kenny dropped his bottle.

No crying.

Contrition

Mom: You broke my duck thing
Kenny: Sorry

I need to push the button!

At first I noticed that the plug in my bathroom wasn't working. Mike noticed that the garage light wouldn't come on. Obviously, Kenny found the GFI button. It is under a shiny, springy, water-proof cover in the back yard. It might as well had a flashing light that said, "Come and push me little boy."
When I told Megan this, she asked, "Kenny knows where the Go Find It button is?" Ahhh yes.

The day after

"I'll just wait up here until you're done, mom."

"Don't worry, I have provisions- that mess is going to take a while."

The top five went back to school today and the bottom two watched me sweep up the aftermath of Easter and Spring Break.

Happy Easter

One of our neighbors had super enormous eggs in their yard. Those would be easier to find, we still cannot find 5 of the plastic eggs hidden around the house.
We snacked on Easter candy and watched conference.

No fooling

I had the Nutty Salad at Jason's Deli on Saturday (7.99 for a huge plate of goodness). It tasted so good, I went and bought the ingredients for the salad from Vitamin Cottage. I hope I get more than one salad for the 70 dollars I spent for dried cranberries, yellow and black raisins, almonds, pumpkin seeds, feta cheese, apples, lettuce mix, spinach, salad dressing, grapes, tomatoes, and walnuts.
