Math Counts

It was the middle school Math Counts competition today for the Metro area. Although he did not place, Jon said it was fun to do math all day. Some kids had on a math shirt that said, "It's as easy as 3.14...( then the next 150 digits)" Jon was coveting that shirt.

He's melting

It was the 5th Grade science fair today. Patrick looked like he was melting like an ice cube just like his project.

One of those days

From son up to son down Kenny was into everything. It was a pleasure to put him to bed tonight.

Patrick bought this drink at the movies and brought it home. He set it on the counter and then Kenny took it. Kelly removed it from Kenny under the guise he was going to spill it and Patrick then confiscated said Sprite and was seen taking it to his room, alone. The germ count: undetermined. Mike and I painted cups with a paint pen for each other. He must love me to do a craft for me. Happy Valentine's Day.

My heart

Adam, my first grader, wrote "I love my Mom" on his Valentine's box that he decorated at school. I feel special.

The last place you look

Kelly lost her ipod in her room so she unloaded most of her room in the hall (Adam's bedroom). She and Mary spent 2 hours organizing not to find it. She came down in tears and I asked if she had changed her sheets because she thought she lost it in bed- yeah, she found it.

Kelly gets a new dress

My mom is in a sewing mood- quick buy her some fabric! Kelly looks adorable with her purse and cat too.

A kitty bag

Nana made Mary a new dress with a purse and kitty to match. My mom carried the kitten in the purse from the car, so of course, Mary thinks that the kitty is supposed to be carried in the purse at all times.

Winter Concert

Band 3 played a concert last night at the middle school. For the last song, Jon played the chimes. He had more than 101 measures of rest. He said he just took a little nap while waiting. Last year he played a really cool chime piece that he was hammering them through the whole piece. He was chosen for this honor because he plays the piano. I love seeing Megan with her flute, it brings back memories of playing when I was in school.

Family Home Evening

Kenny gave the lesson. We watched Elmo's ducks and laughed with him. (Elmo has a soothing effect on him. Just as long as Elmo is not singing to jingle bells, I'll be okay.)

Chick Flicks

Mike and I went to the movies after we went to dinner. As we are standing trying to find a movie that is going to start soon I suggest a movie. Mike said, "Is it a chick flick?" I said no. It ended up being one. "To Save a Life" it was pretty good. It was like the "The Love Dare" movie. Hey we saw Avatar 3d last time!

Pick a jobs

It is essential to get cleaning help from the children at my house. With so many people, dishes pile up in a few minutes and it is an illusion if for one minute to think the laundry is done. So I put all the jobs on slips of paper and let them draw- I don't care if they got the same job they did yesterday. I even took the last job left in the hat, The dreaded kitchen. Within the hour the house, including the bathrooms, was clean (for a few minutes at least.)

I figured it out

Whenever I would put glasses in the 2nd row of the dishwasher they would tilt over and sometimes fall over. I tried different strategies to work around this until tonight I noticed there is a lever to move the spines in different angles. Wow. Now if I could figure out how to wipe down the front I would really be smart.

Sleepy time

Kenny tries to get into Meg's bed.

Mary doesn't want to go to bed, so she cuddles on the couch.

Dreaming

Kenny cannot wait to get back on the bikes. I cannot wait until we fill the crack in the living room floor we put in a few years ago. (Or until it fills with debris that I cannot get out and it doesn't look like a crack anymore.)
