Band 3 played a concert last night at the middle school. For the last song, Jon played the chimes. He had more than 101 measures of rest. He said he just took a little nap while waiting. Last year he played a really cool chime piece that he was hammering them through the whole piece. He was chosen for this honor because he plays the piano. I love seeing Megan with her flute, it brings back memories of playing when I was in school.
Kevin played percussion in high school and some in college. He still plays in the church orchestra. The chimes are not his forte, especially if the part requires more than one mallet.
ReplyDeleteBut it's true, sometimes there is a lot of rest in the percussion section. Other times you are playing four different instruments. It amazes me how much it adds to the music.
