Ken and Wendy's

Kenny's new skill: he's learning to suck the chocolate Frosty through a straw. Most prefer the spoon method, but sometimes a special kid comes along that wants to try the vacuum approach. We are so proud.

Pre-Nursery

One of Kenny's favorite places to play while everyone else goes to classes. Yes, this is the ladies restroom. His "car" is the step stool for the younger children to reach the sink. He scoots it all around, and he says hi to all the girls that come to visit him.

Another Snow Day

Jonathan and Patrick shovel the snow. Notice Jon is getting another wear out of his Klondike stuff!
Kenny and Mary are on the step stools and Mary is not smiling about it.
Kenny curls up in my pink robe waiting for someone to pull him around on it.
We rented a Rug Doctor to clean the couches and the stairs. The attachment on my hoover rug cleaner doesn't work so I broke down and paid the money. If I had any aspirations to do all the carpets upstairs, they were dashed because it was a lot of work to do all the couches. I was so tired I even skipped some pillows because they weren't that bad.
I don't know what that weird/gross thing is (black flowery thing)- some sort of veggie? It was on my kitchen floor in a corner. Maybe one of those lucky charms got wet and sprouted. I just threw it away anyway. Yuck.

School was cancelled again on Friday. So we watched the movies I got from the library on Thursday morning before the blizzard. We played Harry Potter Clue and ate some cinnamon rolls. The snow was mostly melted by 4 pm so some of the kids went to their friends houses. On to Spring Break!

Spring Snow Day

It's weird to look out the window at 6:30 am and there is 3 inches of snow in the lawns but no where else and school has been cancelled. By one o'clock the roads were awful and visibility was not even a 1/2 block. (good call)
This picture is before the Blizzard white out made it impossible to see out the clean new wonderful window.

We played six rounds of Mexican Train this afternoon. Megan won the game, but all had fun. (Except for Kenny who wanted to eat the plastic train markers.) I bought the domino set at 8 am at Wal-Mart while the storm hadn't showed up yet. Oh I also stocked up on the weight watcher friendly chips, donuts and Milano cookies- our food storage seems a little lacking in this area hmmmmm.

Hands down, the cutest!

Last night was 8 year old girl's recognition night. Kelly was so happy to play games like find your mom's hand, guess the daughters hand, and my favorite, the girls were asked to write down their mom's favorite food, movie, vacation and band. Kelly said that mine were:
1. Stir fry (which I apparently cook way too often)
2. The Romance Collection of A&E movies
3. Hawaii
4. and ?.
My answers (if anyone cares or wants to check against Kelly's) are:
1. Salmon (Kelly needs to read the blog more, what do we eat for all special occasions?).
2. Sense and Sensibility (with Emma Thompson- the crying at the end, "You're not married!" gets me every time)
3. Mexico. I so want to take the Book of Mormon tour of the ancient American pyramids!
4. Journey- Faithfully..sigh
We then stood up and told cool things about our daughters. It was a great night to spend with my sweet daughter.

Bring the snow on!

No, not an ice cream truck-better! The window men!
Before (Monday)
After (Tuesday)

Hooray! Bring on the cold weather. Yeah, the snow on Friday. We're finally ready.

Clean little lies?

Before
After ("I see no difference" says, Snape)

Mike told me the hometeachers were coming at 6 pm tonight. After we cleaned the house, he informs me that would be next week! (But the house looks much better...)

Yellow Brick Road

Megan was the head set designer for OZ (the play). The play was on Friday and Saturday. She is in the front row in the black cap and black fashion clothing- all ready to stealthily move stuff on and off stage. She said she liked being an actress but was glad not to have to give up all milk products 3 weeks before the show (so your voice is very clear).

Primary Idol

Tonight was the Primary talent show and we brought total talent!
Kelly demonstrates her recess finest back bends and cart wheel!
The "Spidermans" wowed the audience with Kelly's rendition of the Spiderman Song while Mary Jane and Adam showed their best Spider moves.
Patrick's true talent: reciting PI.

Pick up the phone Nana!

This is Kenny's pretend telephone hand position. "Nana, Mom just found me helping myself to the mini-cupcakes and exploring the formula powder. Yeah, she doesn't look to happy about all the powder all over the floor. Send Papa to pick me up quick!"

backwards day?

Mary came down inside out and backwards- we love her anyway.
Apparently we're not too picky to eat spilled Lucky Charms off the dirty kitchen floor. Apples, other healthy foods? no way.

Lenny the Leprechaun leaves good luck

Lenny the Leprechaun left his mark in our house last night. Even with all of his mischief he left everyone in the family a new green shirt. Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Boohoo

I threw all my blankets and bottle out of the crib and everyone ignored me, so I'm standing here crying for someone to get my stuff off the floor. Waaaaah! I can't sleep without them! I can see them right there in front of the bars...

Breakfast for dinner?

Why dirty up the dining room? when there is Shrek to entertain.

Let me out

Mary was standing at the door. Megan went to the door and asked her if she wanted to go out and she said, "yeah, I want to be cold."

Luckily it was in the high 60's today and not in the 30's, so underwear was an okay fashion option.

Ken has the grill skill

Mike worked at Wendy's when he was a teenager. Today we were making hamburgers for lunch when he told me to stop telling him how to cook them because he has the "grill skill". This was a training video for the restaurant in the 80's. After lunch, we were watching a youtube of grill skill, when Kenny showed us he has the moves.

Mike's Birthday

Adam gets to the car after school crying and holding his head. Patrick told me Adam ran into a pole on their way to the car. A teacher said that we could take him to the nurse, but I opted not to walk all 5 of the children into the school (crying hurt boy, baby only in a shirt and diaper and Mary not in shoes, me not showered) and to drive home and put ice on it and watch him for signs of head trauma. Within a half hour of ice, Spiderman movie and his blanket he wanted to get up and play.
Patrick helps mom watch Kenny in the high chair.
Dinner.
"Daddy" opens his gifts.

Another day, more laundry

Adam and his trusty blanket, don't get too close he hasn't let me wash it in weeks.
It doesn't put itself away- that's the problem with laundry.
The kids decorate for Mike's birthday- it's tomorrow.
I thought he was trying to get the Nutella, (Mike created a Monster) but it was the toothbrush... AquaFresh boy strikes again.

I love it when they do their homework right after school without close adult supervision.

Patrick got his trombone back from the shop today- $60 to repair the slide. Carefully play your instrument Patrick.

"Hey, I'm Moroni!" I doubt he had red hair but I like the trump- won't have to pay for repair of that instrument.

Spider Ken

Grandma and Grandpa got Ken this jacket for his birthday (December 29). Adam thought it should of been his, even though it is a size 2T. Ken really likes that the Spiderman blinks a red light if you touch him. Can you imagine if adult clothing had blinking lights?

Toothbrush man strikes again

Mike called Kenny over to give him the toothbrushes he "found." He stuck them out and as Mike went to grab them he ran away laughing. Can't catch him he's the Aqua Fresh Boy!

Everyone must be included

Adam told me that my pink cup says "ox" a whole bunch of times. Yeah, ox.
Kelly plays Light Bright. I thought the bulb was broken. So good job for her if she got it to work.

Who loves shrimp? Patrick Joe of course.

It has been brought to my attention by some children at home that they are not on the blog as much as Kenny and Mary. (Beth looks away ashamed...) I will do better to capture all the great moments.

Sunday Sweet

Those who have ever wanted curly hair don't know the price: The Tangles and the Tears.
Dad's snack: 10 pieces of buttered bread. Yum.

Mary wants her carrot juice. Too bad she spilled two glasses of it on the floor- with many tears and a bath. Her orange face was like an Ooompa Loompa.
